What is the Omoplata?

Omoplata referes to the shoulder blade. In Jiujitsu, it is a submission techunique that twsiting the shoulder joint.

Omoplata Sumission

1. With left hand, grab opponent's right wrist (or gi) and pull it towards your chest.
2. Position your other hand at the back of opponent's knee.
3. Open closed guard and swing left leg in a wide circle.
4. With your right leg, push opponent's shoulder blade upward to break the balance.
5. With you right hand, pull opponent's knee towards your ear. At the same time, pull opponent's hand towards your inner hip with your left hand.
6. Lock your legs in a figure-four position and press down on the shoulder blade while twisting.

Omoplata Sweep

Applicable when the opponent is resisting the omoplata submission.

1. Refer to the Omoplata Submission above.
2. Extend your lefgs to make you body straight while
3. Roll to the side and sweep.
4. Sit up while continuously pulling a arm to prevent the opponent from escaping.
5. Wait for the opponent's movements to slow down.
6. Push the opponent's front hip joint and lift armpit with you hips to create space.
7. Hold side control position.

Transition from Omoplata to Triangle

Applicable when the opponent raises the upper body while you have the omoplata hook.

1. Refer to the Omoplata Submission above.
2. Keep the hook with your leg so that your bottom to be naturally pulled up when your opponent lift up the upper body.
3. At the moment your legs are up, lift left leg over opponent's shoulder and hold the neck.
4. Pull the opponent's hand in the opposite direction.
5. Pull the opponent's head down to shift the center of gravity.
6. Pull your ankle and hold the triangle choke.
