Kimura submission from closed guard_Jiujitsu

What is a Kimura Lock?

A Kimura lock is a submission technique where you grab and secure the opponent's wrist while opponent's arm is facing downwards, then bend and twist the shoulder joint backward to force him to submit.

Etymology of the Kimura Lock

The Japanese judo athlete Kimura Masahiko became famous for defeating Helio Gracie with a judo technique called "ude-garami" (腕緘, うでがらみ), which involves twisting the arm. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), this technique was named after him out of respect. Since the technique is almost identical to the key lock but with a reversed direction, it is also referred to as the "reverse key lock."
